For 100 years, ExxonMobil Baytown area has devoted its energy to not only operating safely, but also to being an important part of the community.
Starting almost immediately, our predecessor, the Humble Oil Company, constructed schools, roads, houses and places of gathering for the community. Today, we remain committed to upholding traditions of service and engagement. As more than just near neighbors, we are community partners, and we strive to make contributions that support and strengthen our local communities. After all, we live and work here, too.
Each year, more than 1,000 ExxonMobil Baytown area employees, retirees and their families dedicate approximately 28,000 hours to volunteer for nonprofit agencies, schools and community organizations. The company supports those volunteer efforts with annual local grants totaling nearly $2 million.
ExxonMobil Baytown is proud to take a leadership role in important community initiatives such as United Way, Relay for Life and the Be Well Baytown Healthy Community Initiative. We also have a longstanding partnership with all area schools – including Lee College, dating back to 1934 when the college was founded.
In addition to our volunteers and monetary contributions, ExxonMobil Baytown area continues to help build a stable local economy. We contributes more than $7 billion to the regional economy, including nearly 15,000 direct and indirect jobs. We also pay more than $150 million in the form of property, sales, fees and special district taxes.
