BAYTOWN, Texas –ExxonMobil Baytown Area announced today that it will provide approximately 30,000 gallons of fuel to the City of Baytown for use in its first response vehicles.
In addition, ExxonMobil provided 100 gallons of hand sanitizer and more than 20,000 surgical facemasks to the City of Baytown, the City of Mont Belvieu, Chambers County, Communities in Schools – Baytown, and Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. The company also donated $5,000 in fuel gift cards to Rotary Club of Baytown to distribute to families in need, as well as Lee College’s Lee Cares program for students affected by the pandemic.
“We are proud of our longstanding relationship with all of these organizations. In an effort to both thank those on the frontline who have worked so tirelessly to serve and protect our communities, while also helping those individuals who are returning to work or affected by the pandemic, we are providing these resources to get through these unprecedented times,” said ExxonMobil Baytown refinery manager Dan Helgesen.
The first delivery of fuel to City of Baytown police cars, ambulances, fire trucks and other fleet vehicles will commence on May 14. The ExxonMobil Baytown Refinery will provide the gasoline and diesel and Tri Con, an ExxonMobil branded wholesaler, will deliver the fuel to the city’s card lock location.
“ExxonMobil’s donation of fuel, hand sanitizer and face masks could not come at a better time, as protecting our first responders, as well as those who are coming back to work, has and will continue to be our top priority,” said City of Baytown Mayor Brandon Capetillo. “By ensuring our people are well-resourced and protected, we’ll be able to overcome this terrible virus while working to get the City of Baytown up and running again.”
ExxonMobil will conduct ongoing needs assessments as community efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus continue. The company is collaborating with nonprofits to provide additional local support.
