On Jan. 15 ExxonMobil’s Baytown Chemical Expansion Project (BCEP) team broke ground on a home it is underwriting for Baytown Habitat for Humanity. As new units are being constructed at the ExxonMobil facilities, it seems only fitting that our employees also donate their talents and time to build a home in their beloved community. As long time supporters of Baytown Habitat for Humanity and its mission to provide suitable, affordable homes for families in the Baytown community, ExxonMobil has proudly donated more than $660,000 in the last 25 years, helping to build approximately nine of the current 43 Habitat homes in Baytown.
Mayor Brandon Capetillo, Baytown Habitat for Humanity President Cliff Clements, Baytown Municipal Police Association President Detective William Nelson, ExxonMobil employees and annuitants and other community members all gathered to congratulate the new homeowner, Unisa Frazier. Denise Burcham, BCEP Venture Executive, was also on hand to provide a few remarks and express the company’s appreciation for the work Habitat does to make the community a better place.
While it is recognized that financial support is vital to Habitat for Humanity, it is more than monetary donations that make ExxonMobil’s partnership with them a success. The time and energy that has been given by its employees and annuitants through the years framing walls, painting cabinets, installing windows, nailing down trim, and helping to turn these houses into homes for deserving families and members of the community are what makes the partnership a success.
ExxonMobil Baytown Area looks forward to standing side-by-side with the Frazier family and building not just a house, but a home. Baytown Habitat for Humanity’s dedication throughout the years has fulfilled dreams and given hope to countless families, and ExxonMobil is delighted to continue this partnership and remain Baytown Proud together.
